The first - the beginning - of Summer. Crazy, but for an hour at a time, then the restaurant empties.

And - as crazy as it is, and we're short staffed once again - it's not as crazy as previous years, eating out has become a luxury that few can afford.

The restaurant fills, pandemonium, but at the end half the tables are there only to share a small order of fries and a couple of beer, so appearances are deceiving and we're busier in appearances than the ring-outs would indicate.

Saturday, I work the day and manage the evening off. This was not planned, but - in the event it happened there were plans afoot. "Labour of Love", a rave in the Valley.

A long drive in third gear but I make it, and the night passes mighty fine until 3:00 AM because, while Saturday night off is a boon I have to work Sunday. When I wake at 8:00 AM the music is still going and - really, it was half a night out, but half a night out is better than none.

Sunday, again, pandemonium for an hour at lunch, a few hours at dinner, the same again Monday, Summer is officially here and maybe, just maybe I can start paying some bills...
