And back just a few days when the cat - exploring a pile of wood on the constantly-repaired parking lot - discovers a strange animal. Dark brown fur, long of body - a weasel, but not quite, and so I look it up. It's a marten. Cute, perhaps a bit out of the cat's league...
And there's a family of partridges - they seem to return every year, 8 this year, they fly and land on the power poles, explore the grass in the condo complex, at work too much to know if they're now regulars or were just passing through.
Tonight - last time for a week to watch the sunset, go up to Nose Hill. And as the sun sets there's an owl that prowls about my head, diving and swooping in the grass, circling above my bench, curious. The net extent of wildlife upon my return.
