Really, more a collection of reviews.
New things today, out with the boy, plans to drive to Edmonton thwarted by the engine light on the car - it's been erratically coming on as of late and I don't want to take the chance of having the car die on the highway, the prospect of a large repair bill is not one I care to address at the moment.
So we stay local.
We start at Borgo, recommended by the Dentist, I've heard mixed things about it, am loathe to go for Italian but as it's the new "Fashionable" place I take the boy.
Sunday Brunch, an omelet by any other name...
Not impressed. Nothing to write home about at all, nice ambiance, well presented staff, but the food, well...
After which we kill a couple of hours heading off to thrift shops - no great treasures today, but great people watching at the South Side Value Village.
From there, movie - none of the recommended documentaries or Sundance film selections available yet here, and so we see Hugo. uh-uh. Rather boring and predictable.
And then dinner - the Big Cheese Poutinerie on 17th Ave - fine, very fine, and - unlike Borgo - which is far less than it pretends to be, somehow the Big Cheese Poutinerie manages to be more than it appears to be. Heart attack on a plate (or in a box, as it were) - maybe, but at least it's flavorful and tasty.
And there ends the big day off.
