Time, almost everything is under control, time to find a job. This city, it's isolating, far more so than Nelson, than the furthest logging road I could ever drive has been, and I need to mend my finances, pay bills (bills bills bills), catch up, get on top of the situation, but first, first I need to renew my Proserve. This is the tax on waiters and people working in Hospitality, under the guise of "education" it's merely a denial of liability for the government for the grotesque fundraising it does on the back of alcohol sales.

No use arguing, just get it done. Log in, pay your fee, update your details - and, here, a charming touch of the patronage that went into the web design, every time I go to the "my account" page I'm prompted to update my birthday. And you have to laugh, because of all things that might, probably, have changed - my address, my phone number, my email, my gender even, my birthday, my birthday will always be the same.

Some 300 pages of information to be reviewed, with an easy 30 minutes of mind numbing videos to watch...I've done this before, I'll just challenge the exam...

Only it won't let me, I haven't done the summary review questions at the end of each chapter, and so I go back and quickly, 30 minutes, do them all, then challenge the exam...

Only it won't let me, I haven't read all the pages, and now I have to go back, read every fucking page, watch every idiotic video with every failed actor (buddies, this was not an opportunity...) playing a server, bartender, host - in short, playing themselves, the worst 3 hours on the internet I've ever spent in my life, but it's done, now time to update my resume and find a job...
