You don't see any damned gridlines here. Mind you, his subject matter is far more inspiring. Who would have thought that Peter Falk (AKA Columbo, in The Princess Bride, Wings of Desire) could paint? But he's actually a very competent artist. See more of his work here: http://www.peterfalk.com/ArtPF.htm.
Note: As he is ill I suspect his website will be shortlived. There are no links to the artistic portion of it off the main page of the site. Enjoy it while you can.

www.incident.net - A curious, experimental "art" website. I rather liked this exhibition by Reynald Drouhin, although I was a little disappointed there wasn't an "Add to cart" or bid button. Maybe I'm doing a little too much online shopping...

Netsuke: Elaborate miniature carvings made (usually in Japan) to secure purses to Kimonos or Kosodes. Materials vary, Ivory and boxwood were once common, now it's mammoth ivory if you're lucky, otherwise cheap resin or plastic. There are an almost limitless variety of them (the handmade ones at least), here are a few searches to get you started:
On Flickr, and again here. On google images here: skull netsuke, or for the more adventurous try erotic netsuke.

More art to inspire: The Australian version of MOBA, The Museum of Particularly Bad Art. I've attached a sample:

Note: This is not a detail from a larger, finer work. If it were it might be clever. Nope, this is the whole goddamned painting.
