Usually March 14, one month after Valentines. In certain Asian countries Valentines Day is observed by the women, who buy men chocolates, the quality of the chocolate indicative of the mans relationship to her. March 14 is the day the favour is returned, with the gift from the man 2 to 3 times that of the woman's. Read more here. Which could be interpreted as proof that the price of love is high, or simply that they acknowledge that men (generally) make far more than women. Or in any number of other ways, stretch your imagination a bit...
The Fluoride Debate

And so Calgary has decided - finally - to remove the fluoride - the added, additional fluoride - from the water supply. Which is a good thing, although I'm not such an expert that I can pretend to know what all the adverse effects of it are. But there's plenty of fluoride in my toothpaste, which is enough..
The curious thing about fluoride, though, and the people who argue vehemently against it's use - is that it seems to be something of a "Gateway" conspiracy theory. The government is fluoridating our water supply to control our minds/make us dumb/keep us sick, and from here the conversation inevitably leads to contrails and chemtrails, the Illuminati, One World Government, and the Alien Hybridization program. Which shouldn't discredit the fact that anything added to ones water without clear and tangible proof of it's benefit shouldn't be done, but somehow it does...
Hackney

I've had literally hundreds of these dreams. I'm lost in London, trying to get somewhere. Last night it was Hackney, missing trains, trying to get onto the right train, flag a taxi, I know - generally - where it is I'm supposed to be going, but for some reason things just aren't working out and I'm not getting there.
And still I keep trying....
Valentines 2011

And still they're trying, last minute bookings thinking they can call on a Friday for Saturday or Valentines Day. And sad to tell them that we're fully booked, and cut short their special last-minute requests for specific tables and restricted diets. They sound surprised - why would we be busy? And we wonder where they've been eating the past year - McDonald's? Wendy's? For the very, very regulars we make room, keep a few tables in reserve for those who will expect we have thought ahead for them, we're good that way, but for the general public we've been closed a week.
