The Microsoft Kill Signal

Thought I was done with this shit, it's been years.
The computer, nagging me to update it, stop my routine of hibernation, restart it, download all the new and latest updates...
And the nagging turns to bullying, and the computer interrupts me to threaten a restart in "choose my time", 4 hours, 10 minutes, and eventually just restarts without warning when I'm off grabbing another coffee......
And, the slow rebooting, 30 minutes before I see the "Starting Windows" screen, another 30 before the login screen....login, and another hour before my desktop appears, slowly, slowly loading, these updates, a slightly more modern or contemporary graphic layout, that is all. And then begin the errors. Every loading application throws them up, I need touch nothing, the update, the Microsoft Kill signal, it's fucked everything. 4 reboots later, 10 hours later, still trying to reboot to safe mode, roll back this fuckery, and there's no saving this, and I console myself with the thought that Gates, that asshole, is too busy saving Africa with my involuntary investment in his shit operating system...
I thought I was done with it all, thought in 20 plus years of computers they'd have figured this out, but they still haven't, or maybe they have and this kill signal they send out is part of the planned obsolescence, another perfectly good PC in the trash so Gates can send my next donation to Africa....
Fucking Bloody Hell
The landlords wife

I never have sex dreams, so this was a bit of an oddity...
That the Landlord's wife had come by my place, not my place, another place, a place with different rooms, old rooms, old furniture. And she got naked in a hurry with a "don't tell my husband" and then in came a small child, maybe 10 years old, and he was looking for her or me and finally walked into a room where she was naked and trying to hide, and he sees her, and we're left hoping he doesn't talk...
...I'm at a party, with my daughter, maybe not a party, an auditorium, seats going down, dim theatre lighting - down - down, and where there should be a stage there's a wall, the aisle goes through columned entry ways and then down towards a stage that we can't see...halfway in the archway there are some girls, local, one, dressed in some sort of knit or crocheted onesie, bending over, and the knit thong is swinging aside to reveal her gaping ass, her furry twat, and I jab the daughter and tell her to look before I know what's going on, and her face is looking back through a knit ski mask, leering at me, inviting, her lips and eyes like roughly drawn gashes, mobile, sensual, ...
A short red-haired girl, now in civilian clothes, cute, fiery, I recognize, a local barista, is telling me it was her in the onesie, only she was told by the landlord's wife to knock it off, that she was trying to seduce me, and she's prettier now, less grotesque, that I can see her face...
There are parties at Ainsworth, Kaslo, and I'm supposed to be attending them all, but I'm just leaving the one in Kaslo, in the street, the sun is coming up, and I remember nothing about any of the parties, a big guy is standing beside me telling me I was drunk, I don't remember a thing...
(**Weird. I seldom have sexual dreams, the landlord's wife is pleasant, but not - to me - a sexual object, and so these are peculiar symbols for a whole lot of something else going on that I have to figure out...)

The boy, upon seeing pictures of my dogs, commissioned me to make him some pictures of a black kitten.
Why not? The first picture proved the best, the later 2 efforts were - while colorful, not exactly what I was hoping for (hence the bad pictures).
Kitten with yarn. This was attempt #2. Bits are OK, bits - background especially - needed a lot more work and thought.
Cat with Rat. Not so unhappy with this one, but maybe a little overworked.
And Finally, the first one I did, which is still by far and away the best:
Cat doing Tarot. Which I like, obvious failings aside...
David Foster Wallace - Consider the Lobster

Painting, and it helps to clear the mental noise to have some background, usually "In Our Time" by Melvn Bragg, buy I've exhausted my first picks and sometimes need a break.
So I try listening to David Foster Wallace - readings from Consider the Lobster.
Which is good, but I have to leave off the painting, his narratives are a little too in depth, too engrossing to listen to as background, you need to actively listen. Which is a good thing. There are no great revelations, only his rather grim view of the unquestioned social hypocrisies we all adhere to - I'm probably not his ideal audience, I've considered everything that he discusses, but he goes a little - a lot more in depth than many of his listeners or readers would be comfortable with. Nothing new, nothing you couldn't have figured out yourself if you'd only ask the questions, take the time, but good nonetheless, and his "take" on things is always that of a sane person in an obviously insane world.
Listening to him, it's no surprise that he killed himself, rather more a surprise that he lasted as long as he did. And you can't help but wonder what he would have thought of the ever increasing insanity of world politics at this moment....He got out at the right time.
