Alberta Meteorites

Inspired somewhat by "Meteorite Men" I make a map of the known meteorite falls in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
A few things to note - first of all, given the size of the province, there are remarkably few meteorite finds. Kansas, for comparison, has upwards of 160 reported meteorite finds, Alberta - at 3 times the size, doesn't even have 20. Most of Alberta and Saskatchewan meteorites were found in the upper 2/3 of the province - showing the settlement of the provinces (from North to South). About half of them were collected after observed falls - like the Buzzard Coulee Meteorite found south of Lloydminster, the Peace River Meteorite, etc. Others were ploughed up by farmers and brought in - often decades later - to Universities for analysis. One was even found in a farmers rock-pile - which - I suspect - is the graveyard for more than a few Alberta Meteorites. And many of the locations marked only yielded a few specimens - meaning - if there was a strewn field (and certainly there was, more than likely several) abundant other specimens are waiting to be collected.
For sure there are a lot more out there. Now make your own map and go looking...

That said, perhaps here, not so unusual, I've met any number of Wizards, elves and Shamans, what's unusual is how high functioning he is.

News of the murder of unarmed black teenager Jordan Edwards comes on the heels of announcements that no charges will be laid in the murders of Alton Sterling.

Note the stated consequence of the first - police officer shoots unarmed black teen in head, is fired. The initial response of the police chief - defense, denial, lies: "...was driving towards the officer..." indicts not just the fired officer, but the whole force. This should be the defense of every mafia drug-lord, hit man, domestic abuser and serial killer, this is the bar.

The boy, driving, on his way from U Vic to Calgary, stops to visit..
Only for a day, so while we're both exhausted I take him to the "Spirit Bar". And the women are circling him like sharks...one of the joys of the Kootenays is that there seems to be around 2 women to every guy, a benefit the boy is quick to realize...
I disappear, let him schmooze, talk to a friend of a friend, she's lived here a year, can't get a job, volunteers with a circus school, the addictions center, the music's loud and sometimes I'm not sure if I'm having the conversation I think I'm having, or maybe she's high, or maybe I am, I don't smoke but there's enough of it in the air, on the street, in the water, it's gotta be taking it's toll...
Leaving the club, the boy's exhilarated..."You like?" I enquire, "Do you mind if I come back to visit next week...?" he asks me, and I take this to mean it's a success...Nelson in general, the bar in particular, now only to change the circumstances of my tenure here...
