Sometimes I goad myself into working by comparing my life, to date, with Van Goghs.
It's a reminder of how easy I really have it.
Van Gogh: Dead at 37.
Me: Alive at forty-odd.
Van Gogh: Candlelight & Gaslight. Painting mostly limited to daylight hours.
Me: Alive in the time of Electricity. Could paint 24/7 if I were so inclined...
Degenerate Nazi Hoard

Berlin: "In January workers digging for a new subway station near City Hall unearthed a bronze bust of a woman, rusted, filthy and almost unrecognizable. It tumbled off the shovel of their front-loader. ...."
And so they continue to unearth a hoard of artworks thought destroyed during the Third Reich for being degenerate.

"Through her stories, I had learned to love and admire this mysterious race of tall, hairy people called Bigfoot. I chose not to use that name because it sounded somewhat demeaning. (Their feet are not large for their height and weight. They are in perfect proportion. They only are large compared to human feet.)"
From Joan Ocean's weblog describing her experiences and communications with Bigfoot. To the left, pictured, is a drawing by Bigfoot given to her. If you have any clue as to what it might mean she'd like to know. I have my theories....

A Rhinoceros in the Kitchen

"Don't make eye contact" I tell myself, but it's hard, it's a rhinoceros and it's in my kitchen.
I make coffee in the mornings, glance over, acknowledge it, then find ways of procrastinating. More coffee, breakfast, snacks, bite of lunch, dinner, I wander past it head in the air, down to the basement to clean the cat litter.
It's been there for a week.
